Little Doodles

I'm in a bit of a jewellery quandary. I can't decide whether I prefer statement pieces that scream out to be noticed or little delicate pieces that glint and catch someones eye. I think at the moment I'm edging towards those subtle pieces of jewellery, probably inspired by finds like these...found at Ylang23

You will probably gather from my previous and upcoming posts that there are a few things I am obsessed with...
1. Stationary - paper, pens, you name it. If it makes a mark or I can make a mark on it it's perfect!
2. Illustration - not just creating my own little pieces of artwork but admiring others too
3. Jewellery - I dabble in jewellery making but only little beaded things. I love looking at other peoples pieces though, it's like being able to wear little works of art

I found Petite Paris through Oh Joy, another blog I love, and from what I can understand it stocks lovely French products to Japan. They sell cute little objects, all of which I am now coveting...

and this gorgeous Alex Monroe necklace. I've been a big fan of Alex's work for a while now after seeing it in Liberty's and the great jewellery shop EC One. His website has some of his work on, it really is beautiful, so delicate and pretty!

I'm a sucker for unusual jewellery and these rings by Lapponia certainly fir the bill. There's something very beautiful, almost sculptural about them that makes me want to empty the piggy bank for them!

This parasol, named "Shadylace" by Droog Design is such a fab idea. The laser cut parasol casts shadows of the leaves cut into it. Just imagine that on a warm summers evening sipping a cool drink in the garden. Sigh

I'm in love with Barcelona, it's one of those great places where I can feel at home and not lost in a big scary foreign city. There's so many beautiful things to see there, not to mention fab shops like Vincon and Dom, both cool homeware shops. They're the kind of shops where you can buy design items which border the line between really cool and really pretentious...either way I love them both.

This is a dream come true for me...I'm a stationary-a-holic, pens, sketchbooks, paper, anything like that tends to "fall" into my shopping basket without me realising.

So it really seems like I want to be anywhere but home right now, judging by my previous post (and I'm sure a few more to come) I want to shop my way around the world! Unfortunately I can't so I'm going to make do with a bit of internet window shopping (or would that be monitor shopping?). Here are some delights from around the world...



Karin Eriksson's beautiful ceramics are just gorgeous and I'm addicted to her blog too! Hers is one of those websites that I tend to come away from feeling inspired and encouraged to create something.



As an illustration student (not something I've mentioned yet but don't worry, I'm sure there will be plenty of elaboration later) I often find myself spending ages trawling the internet, hopping from link to link of inspirational artists, whether they be ceramicists like Karin or illustrators such as Camilla Engman. I've been a big fan of her work for a while now and love its simple beauty. Again, I am a fan of her blog too and particularly enjoy seeing photos of her cutie of a dog Morran.

Don't get me wrong, I love living in London, it's a vibrant city full of things to see and do but the shops (not to mention the weather) in America are making it so appealing right now! I wish shipping costs weren't so much...or alternatively that I wasn't such a poor student.



These earrings, found at Elsewheres, are a prime example. I love tiny birds, especially in earring form!

I have no idea how I came across this Japanese blog but these loyalty cards for Starbucks caught my eye. There's something lovely about things like little paper envelopes that I really can't put into words...it just seems a lot more personal, even if it is from Starbucks!

And on to the first proper post...this jelly city by Elizabeth Hickok looks delicious even though I'm sure it shouldn't. Who knew jelly (sorry, jello for anyone outside of the UK!) could be so architectural?

So...I've finally got around to starting a blog. I think I have to begin with an admission, eep, we're onto guilty admissions already! I'm guilty of what I've recently discovered is called "lurking." Yep, I'm one of those people who reads a wealth of blogs but rarely leaves a message of appreciation. It's only recently that I've started to leave little comments and I'm not sure what it was that stopped me before but I've now taken the first step on the road to...well...lurking recovery! I think it's the fact that I get so much inspiration from this online community of crafty, arty and plain beautiful blogs that people so lovingly write. I've stumbled upon links of great inspiration to me and this is what I hope to pass on to others. So, like I said, I've taken the first step, it's a little scary but here goes!
