Craftacular Catch up!

Wow, I'm a little behind with the blog (and when I say a little, I probably mean a lot) but I'm finally getting some time to reaquaint myself with good ol blogger.

Last Saturday was the fantastic Bust Craftacular event in Bethnal Green where I sold a variety of birdy goodies with my other doodling pal Dan of Fluffy Thoughts. In my pre fair daze I ran out of the house without my camera but I have a few snaps of the stall...
Not only was it amazing to meet the crowds (and boy, were there crowds) but it was wonderful to finally put faces to names.

Meeting lovelies like Wee Birdy, Rachael of Hannah Zakari, Megan of Mr PS, Anna of Custom Made, Katie, Gemma, Kate & Helen but to name a few was wonderful, I just wish I had had more time to chat to them and possibly more energy to chat to them in a more coherent way!

So here are some of the goodies...

Some ceramic chaps by Vinila who I was overjoyed to see there because I've been a long time fan
Fluffy Thoughts badge (there was a particularly popular "I Love Tea" one which caught my eye too)
Wonderful ring by Eclectic Eccentricity (whos table display was beautiful btw)

Gemma Correll goodies

A Monsieur Memo brooch by Helen

There were so many other stalls like Emma Ferguson, Lost at Sea, Showpony and especially Mememe that I wish I had purchased some lovely things from but there's always next time!

Bad Start

Tuesday, August 25, 2009
I would have loved to have started the day with an upbeat cheery post about Saturday and the fun of the Craftacular but these were brought to my attention yesterday evening.

I hate that I'm being made to feel like I don't want to share my work anymore, especially by the magazine of a company I actually like. It makes me so sad.

Charmed, I'm sure...

Friday, August 21, 2009
In a regression back to my childhood I have discovered the joy of shrink plastic. So prepare for birdy charms a plenty!

I'm determined to make a mini Karl Lagerfeld too for some reason, I just want to carry him around with me like a lucky charm (this makes me a little strange, no?!)

A little letter

Monday, August 10, 2009
After my earlier post mentioning letter writing I've been feeling inspired...

The world is moving

Wipe the dew off your spectacles, and see that the world is moving.

Papermash

Readers of my little blog have probably picked up by now that I'm a little bit of a paper/stationary obsessive (and guessing from your lovely comments, I have a sneaky suspicion that I'm not the only one).

Now I have a new shop for you all to fuel this addiction to all things paper! Lynne of the wonderful Tea For Joy has opened her very own shop Papermash which stocks items sourced from independent designers all around the world.

I'm already a big fan of decorative tape, so these particularly appealed

As well as these Nantaka Joy notebooks

And as I commented on Lynne's blog, I feel a bit embarrassed to admit that string makes me happy but in this case, how could it not?!

So I urge everyone as geeky (or not) as me to check out Papermash and indulge in a little paper love, letter writing is "in" don't you know?

Playing design detective at Liberty

Saturday, August 08, 2009
Oh dear, I been a bit absent from the blog of late but I'm hoping the next few posts will make up for it. It's been a busy couple of weeks work wise as well as having to deal with a few obstacles along the way (thank you to everyone who left such lovely comments of support, I will keep you updated, promise!) but I'm having some time out to catch up on some "me" time as well as preparing for the Bust Craftacular that's happening in a few weeks.

Today (after coffee at Princi...highly recommended, even if it's to gaze at the array of cakes & pastries) started my time out with a quick visit to Liberty's to take a peek at their new "Prints Charming" exhibition. It comprises of new prints created exclusively by renowned artists like Grayson Perry
They also had some beautiful pieces made by others using Liberty prints like these A.P.C bags and chandeliers by Squint

The window displays were also fab, especially this one featuring work by wonderful Amanda Fatherazi

Although, as Susie rightly said, no photography was allowed, I managed to take a few sneaky pictures, establishing my role as an undercover design detective for today. Enjoy!

Testing, testing...

Monday, August 03, 2009
I'm testing out some layouts for a mini catalogue but I wanted it to look a little different to the norm...any opinions are welcome!
