I'm on week 3 of what appears to be the worlds worst virus so I'm afraid it's less words, more doodles for fashion week.
It's all about knitting it yourself this season...
Or crocheting for that matter. From Christopher Kane's cashmere creations to House of Holland's bright photographic prints, it seems granny squares are having their moment.
Donna Wilson : Big Ted (I know he's not fashion related but I couldn't resist)
Personally I've had many failed attempts at knitting and crochet (the hat that ended up the size of a fruit bowl was a particular favourite of mine). I'm thinking maybe a few classes would be fun, just so I could actually make use of all of the pretty yarn I've bought and abandoned in the past.
Let's play the odd one out game (who else has the Sesame St "one of these things is not like the other" song in their head right now?)
Orla Kiely, every season you tempt me with new delights. Now bird prints too?
I'm sold.
And to top it off, a rucksack. Oh my.
Every couple of years I treat myself to a special item (is it referred to as an "investment piece" in the fashion world?) as a work reward. I haven't been able to take on as much work as I hoped this year because of not being too well but fingers crossed it'll still be around next year. Then again, retail therapy might be a good form of medicine at the moment!
Working on something new...
What do you think? Screenprints? Letterpress?
Hmmm. I don't know whether it works for me but I'm still in a creative slump and trying to experiment as much as possible. There's nothing more frustrating than not being able to express what you want to do (or even know what it is that you want to do in the first place).
I liken it to not being able to recall a word or name when it's on the tip of your tongue. I know there's something I should be doing with myself at the moment, I just can't quite get there.
Hurrumph.
Originally I'd planned a nice sunny post after the wonderful weather yesterday. But today, that big shiny thing in the sky has retreated (what was that again? Someone remind me) and been replaced with grey drizzle. Still, it's provided a bit of inspiration if nothing else.
