I love books, I'm an avid reader and can remember being so since I was very young but after seeing these I got to wondering what it is that makes me pick up books in the first place? A few are chosen on recommendation I suppose but I have a sneaky feeling that most of them are based around the covers. I know, I know, don't judge a book by its cover and all that but some are just so lovely! Just like these wonderful book covers by Petra Borner (found via Lena Corwin's oh so lovely blog)
Does anyone know anything about water chestnuts? I have found myself addicted to them...I think it's their crunchiness...there's something very satisfying about crunchy food!
Yes, this has been a long time coming, I'm sorry for the delay but just to assure everyone I had a wonderful time in New York. I felt right at home there, it is such a lovely city, I enjoyed myself beyond belief! We had some wonderful meals, great walks, fab shopping and just enjoyed being there in general. I'm sorry I wasn't able to stay for longer, there really was too much to see in just three short days. Among the highlights...strange as this maybe...was a second hand Japanese book shop Book Off where I bought several Japanese craft books. Why don;t we have anything like that in London?
I've been feeling somewhat empty in terms of creativity lately...maybe it's boredom although I don't really like to say I'm bored of drawing. However, I came across Keri Smith's blog which had been a complete inspiration. After spending a good hour reading back through as many posts as I could I found inspiration in all she had written, as well as several quotes I now intend to write up and stick on my wall. It goes to show that reading blogs can be good for the soul!
Is it me or does this remind you of an old fashioned jelly mould? Not that there's anything wrong with that, I love jelly!

I'm still here immersing myself in the world of nature...I've been looking at all kinds of products that are influenced by the natural world but I think it is the jewellery that resonates the most with me. I think it must be because it can speak such volumes simply from being worn and that replicating such naturally occuring wonders into new and wonderful pieces that reaches out to me the most.
As always, the work of Abigail is beautiful, and as her sketch books show, nature plays a huge part in her work.
