Whilst I was away I had a bit of time in between waitng for flight updates to sit down and have a really good virtual browsing session. I know it's a little bit strange that I'm posting about things I came across online rather than in Berlin (don't worry, once my head is back in order that will come) but here are some of the goodies I stumbled across...
Content & Container Perfect Imperfect espresso cup, brooch and pins all designed and made using porcelain which is charmingly referred to as "white gold" on the site. Michael Husmann and Pascale Mira Tschaeni for Rittenhouse...wearable art in every sense of the word. The close ups on the embroidery are amazing too.
So...it's another day gone in the great "stuck in Berlin" saga. I was meant to be flying home tomorrow but have had to book train tickets as a back up. And the earliest we could get? FRIDAY! For three of us it came to well over 1000 pounds. Sigh
Anyway, I'm trying to make the best of a bad situation (even though my m.e. is flaring up badly) as Berlin is such a wonderful city. I feel extremely comfortable here despite the circumstances and am enjoying being able to pop over the road for a (very good) coffee in a fantastic cafe which seems to be a hub for creative arty people. I'm going to try and load pics tomorrow and fill you in on what I've been up to.

Hello all! Due to my forgetfulness and rush to pack I didn't mention that I was going to Berlin! Well it looks like I'm having an extended stay seeing as there are no flights home (thank you Mr Volcano). So if any lovely readers in Berlin want to say hello or anyone else has any must sees do let me know. Who knows how long I'll be here!
When I was little I wanted to be a spy. Now I don't mean this was one of those on a whim "when I grow up" things...it was a full blown obsession and dedication to all things private detective. I can name when and where I bought most of my spy kit...my favourite bits being the Usborne Detective's Handbook (bought in the Hampstead branch of Waterstone's), mirrored spy glasses (bought on my 1st trip to America aged 9, in a kids shop at a shopping centre called Fashion Island) and of course a trusty magnifying glass (although many an afternoon was spent burning holes in things in the garden...thanks for teaching me that essential skill Dad).
Alas, my dreams weren't fulfilled but maybe one day...illustrator by day, spy by night? I like!
I would love to have a tidy workspace, however the effort to 1. create it and 2. maintain it is almost too much for me to bear. Shopping with having that space in mind is much more fun.
As Peacocks Hat mentioned on my last post, everything was a little on the pricey side. I suppose that's why I put them in the Gimme Gimme Gimme category, because they're more aspirational than anything. So I've put together another (equally covetable!) version that is a lot more appealing to me, and hopefully you, pricewise!
I've started watching Mad Men and it's slowly infiltrating all areas of my life (not to mention the fact that the theme tune seems to be stuck on repeat in my head)
