Uxus Design

Friday, September 29, 2006

This origami wallpaper is such a gorgeous idea. It was created by Uxus Design around the concept of improving an interiors acoustics. I'm not quite sure on the details of this but it looks lovely! Also, check out the Uxus Bloom section on their website, there are some lovely patterns to behold!

Bottega Veneta

Wednesday, September 27, 2006
I like the muted palette they used at Bottega Veneta, very soft and pretty

Glamour and Glitter at Armani

If only I had an excuse to wear clothes like these...sigh

Maurizio Pecoraro

Wonderful colours, fabrics and a real display of how to get the "layering" look that's suddenly so it!

Why I heart Pringle (and not just the edible kind)

Ooh shoes!

Wednesday, September 20, 2006
I'm in love with these shoes and their tiny collars

By New Kid, available at Office from next week...I'll be first in line!

Everything about this first outfit by Richard Nicoll says "hate me" but I just can't. I love it for its playfulness and comic quality but maybe I'd plump for the more restrained version next to it though.

Simplicity from the front, with a twist at the back!

I always thought mixing black or white with bright colours was a cardinal sin of fashion...I've been proven wrong by these combinations at Future Classics.

I love the neutral tones of these outfits, plus the unusual cut and draping usually adopted by Future Classics makes them instantly likeable to me. Classic shapes but with a little twist.

Although I didn't actually get to any of the shows yesterday, I have got pictures from some of them (found at

I love the neckline on this dress by Emma Cook, very graphic with a hint of Aubrey Beardsley about it?

And also the great print on this dress, I'm loving black and white illustrations right now!

London Fashion Week

Tuesday, September 19, 2006
I managed to get down to London Fashion Week today and had a good couple of hours browsing around the exhibition. Despite feeling distinctly un fashionista like (it seemed the uniform was a little dress teamed with leggings and ballet pumps)I had a great time. I'll be posting about some of the stand out designers I saw, starting with Comfort Station, a jewellery and accessories company run by Amy Anderson. Really quirky, very cool and definately something I'd buy. I'm going to have to pop into their shop near Brick Lane I think.

I've started putting up all of my illustrations on an online portfolio at

It's not very fancy but I thought maybe it's kind of a professional step forward until I get around to making my own website. I've got to learn up on html!
After the last post I wanted to find out a bit more about Esther Derkx, so here goes. Product designer, Esther's work is the product of the meeting of art and contemporary art. She finds inspiration from her life, whether it be a work experimec or travel experinece, she applies it to her products using screen printing techniques. I especially like all of the crockery, "Images of dancers and athletes were chosen because of their flowing movement, which complement the contours of the crockery that is collected." Simply beautiful!

Quirky ceramics a plenty at Rose and Radish

Some wonderful ceramics by Esther Derkx

Porcelian take out container by Lorena Barrezueta

Royal Tichelaar candle holder

Klein Reid Oscar vase

Hate sports, love sportswear

Some nice simple outifs at Lacoste...they don'y really inspire me to take up a new sport but I can't imagine playing tennis or running around in any of these anyway!

Doo Ri

I loved pretty much all of this show but I think these four are my favourites, simple and elegant but with an edge. Plus I'm really loving grey at the moment, especially the softer shades in flowy materials.

Saturday, September 16, 2006
Some of my favourites so far, they're not what I'd call the prettiest outfits (and there were many) but they're definately outfits I'd love to wear. As much as I love all of the various fashion weeks, there always seem to be very few pieces I'd wear everyday, then again I don't suppose that's really the point of fashion week anyway is it?

Top row: Peter Som, Vera Wang, Carolina Herrera, Costello Tagliapietra, Vera Wang, DVF
Bottom row: Tory Burch, Luella, Luella, Matthew Williamson, Karen Walker, Proenza Schuler

I wonder if you can tell what kind of person I am from the outfits I've chosen? Hmm...

Nice Navy

Friday, September 15, 2006
Navy seems to be featuring in a lot of the shows...a nice alternative to black? I think so

Karen Walker, Yigal Azrouel, Derek Lam

Natural Beauty

Some more nature inspired jewellery, this time by Alexis Bittar at Saks

Just came across this lovely jewellery by Odette New York. I'm just as inspired by nature related pieces as I am by nature itself.

Slouchy vs Skinny

Thursday, September 14, 2006
Karen Walker, Rag and Bone, Max Azria, DKNY

Luella, Zero Maria Conejo, Behnaz Sarafpour, Proenza Schouler, Yigal Azrouel

It's slouchy versus skinny in the battle of the trousers. Despite a new contender in the slouchy, more masculine trouser, skinny seems to be winning, especially at the Luella and Yigal Azrouel shows.

Electric Blue

Dazzling shades of blue electrify at Zero Maria Conejo, Chaiken, Oscar de la Renta, DKNY

I think I would call this coral...maybe more of a neon coral at DVF, United Bamboo, Luca Luca, Carolina Herrera
